BARONA TRIBAL COUNCIL AND GAMING COMMISSION

 

The Barona Band of Mission Indians is recognized by the United States Government as a sovereign government.
 

Tribal Council


Barona is governed by a General Council, which is comprised of approximately 240 voting members of the tribe. The General Council meets monthly. In addition, there is a Tribal Council comprised of seven elected Tribal officials.

Gaming Commission


The Barona Gaming Commission is the regulatory branch of the tribal government. It is comprised of appointed tribal members who cannot be employed by the tribe or the casino in any other aspect. The Gaming Commission is responsible for regulating casino activities as mandated by the 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act, the Tribe's Gaming Ordinance, and the Tribal/State compact, including employee and vendor licensing.
